I have some students who are interested in making lamps. The electronics of lamp making is pretty straight forward and something we can do. However, I am having a bit of difficulty coming up with a good design. When I search for images of wooden lamps, I get a lot of "artsy" things. I want more of a "utilitarian" lamp. Plus I don't have any lathes so it needs to be square. Do any of you have any resources/ideas/pictures/whatever that you would be willing to share? Katie

I love doing the Lamp project with my 7th grade students. It's their creativity and I've never had ant two lamps look alike. There arte many styles to come up with. I use the basic wood block base, as well as the Shadow box style.

Photobucket doesn't work for this anymore unless you pay their fees. Save photos to pinterest and use that as your link. Choose the photo, right click on it, then choose view image info... and that will be the link. Right click to save the link, then open this site, use the photo icon above and make sure your link falls between the (img) (/img) and the photo will show here.
Example link... https://i.pinimg.com/564x/e4/30/a2/e430a22ae56969d8d2bb90671eca24da.jpg If you click this link, it will go to the photo, but here is the same example with the link placed in between the img /img. I hope this helps.

In the past, I have had my kids make very simple ones that were of a shoji style. We used walnut dowel rods and cloth to make the panels. They had a simple push button to turn them on and off.
