My district will be having a literacy night and the FACS teacher and I will share a session. We're planning to use reading/following directions related to measurement with parents as the audience/class.
Anyone have anything they've used in that sort of environment? Not sure if I want them to use rulers to measure a thing(s) or a worksheet with a ruler. I'm open to suggestions. FYI, I teach 6-8. Thanks in advance.

I have a tape measurement worksheet, with instructions and a worksheet. I have students measure various objects around the room (whiteboard L X W, drill press table L x W)etc. Some measurements students can work alone, others they need to work with their locker partner (L x W classroom, etc.)If the weather is nice, I have them complete measurement outside the room for the back side of the worksheet. Students are engaged and they have to read the worksheet to complete the assignment. Hope this helps

Sounds interesting. If you're willing to share it, I'd appreciate it. Would certainly add to what I have in mind. Thanks.
