I agree. My students want things spoon-fed, and then can't remember to stay at their workstations while they wait for help... I tried this "Whole Brain" teaching technique with my 8th grade boys. -WOW! I was shocked at how they paid attention. We were discussing rabbet (not squirel) joints. I had them repeat that a rabbet was on the end or edge of a board, using this technique, and by the end of the hour, I held up a dado joint, and a studnet responded that it wasn't a rabbet joint. "Why?" His response -"A rabbet joint is on the end or edge of a board!" Seems like this technique will play into the "ADD" behavior, but it works. Whole brain teaching? Looks more like whole brain washing to me. The only thing missing was the goose stepping.
