Not sure how many of your schools have a CNC machine.
I have a project I would like to share. Pictures are available on the link below.

I had a request by a special education teacher to make some rocking chairs on the CNC machine. I spend a few months working on designing it and test cutting. I finally got the tool path down.
The project was designed in Aspire and the project was cut on a ShopBot CNC machine.

Had a similar issue a few years back with the grinder. 7th hour one day, 1st hour the next both sent to the hospital.
Take the time to review the safety of the machine.

How big are the signs?
I use a ShopBot CNC machine and design using Aspire.
I have heard not so good things about the CNC Shark or one that Craftsman sells.

If it is too big, I would take the jamb apart and then rip down to the proper size. If the jamb is not solid wood and you rip it, you will need to pick up some veneer.
I few years back and I had a project to extend a jamb for a cinder block wall. I biscuit jointed an extender on. It worked nice.

I would suggest a ShopBot Desktop or a ShopBot Buddy, depending upon your budget and how much space you have.

The machines have a number of add ons that make the machine more usable for things like printing and vinyl signs.
If you can afford the alpha, it is worth the money. It is quieter than a router and you can then cut soft metals like aluminum.

Is there a way to add pictures on this forum?
